Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Growth and Modeling of Semiconductor Nanostructures

The research team Synthesis and Characterization of Nanomaterials, Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in modeling of solution growth of semiconductor nanostructures.


Duties and Responsibilities:

The selected candidate is expected to:

  • model solution growth of one-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures,
  • identify growth mechanisms of semiconductor nanostructures,
  • collaborate with other team members on the development of growth methods and design of experiments,
  • introduce new ideas and open new research directions,
  • contribute to the drafting and submitting of papers to peer reviewed journals.

The specific research project focuses on the growth mechanisms and physical properties of ZnO nanorod arrays prepared by chemical bath deposition. The ZnO nanorods are grown on electron/ion beam patterned substrates in continuous-flow reactors.



  • Ph.D. degree in applied physics, materials science, chemistry, or related area,
  • strong publication record in growth and modeling of semiconductor nanostructures,
  • solid background in semiconductor physics and technology,
  • experience in solution growth of semiconductor nanostructures is of advantage.

Terms of employment:

The initial period of employment is one year (with the possibility of extension), starting from January 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
