DEPARTMENT DETAILS
Department of Bioelectrodynamics

Chairman: Michal Cifra, Ph.D.
Division: Division of Electronics Systems and Signals

The department focuses on research in the field of high-frequency and photonic bio-signals. Activities of the department cover development of experimental equipment for measurement, measurement itself, as well as theoretical description of mechanisms generating signals measured. In radio-frequency band we are dealing with measurement of very weak electromagnetic cellular signals. For these measurements we are developing micro- and nano-structure sensors with low-noise preamplifiers and electromagnetic shielding. In optical region we focus experimentally on non-thermal emission of photons from cellular cultures. Experimental work in both bands is followed with modeling of biophysical processes which generate electromagnetic filed at cellular, primarily supra-molecular, level.
