Aproximation of TAI Second and Prediction of UTC
The time interval of second TAI is physicaly aproximated in Cesium-beam atomic clock HP5071A/001 Serial No. 1227 and the national time scale UTC(TP) steered to UTC is generated from the same clock. TP denotes Tempus Pragensis.
Reporting Cesium Frequency Standards to BIPM via UTC(TP)
LNTFS participates in generation of UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) in cooperation with BIPM. The Laboratory performs or provides data for linking the atomic clocks or other precise time and frequency generators in the Czech Republic to UTC(TP) via satellite navigation systems or using optical fibers.
Time Transfer from/to IPE
Multichannel, dual-frequency GPS Time Transfer Receivers GTR50 developped in IPE in cooperation with Dicom are used for GPS common-view comparisons in the Laboratory.
The receivers are equipped with dual-frequency, temperature-stabilized antennas.
Realizace a měření krátkodobě stabilní frekvence
Standard frequency 5 MHz is being generated using a pair of ultra-stable BVA oscillators with the FFM floor of ~1x10−13 in terms of Allan deviation.
The Laboratory operates its own laboratory system based on dual-mixer time-difference multiplicator for measurements of frequency stability of ultra-stable frequency sources. The background noise of the system is 6x10−15 in terms of Allan deviation for averaging interval τ = 1 s and bandwidth of 26 Hz.

The UTC(TP) time scale is continually disseminated in Internet by time server

Calibrations
The Laboratory performs also high-accuracy calibrations of industrial atomic frequency sources, ultra-stable quartz oscillators, and GPS-disciplined frequency sources and clocks.
