Mid-Infrared Radiation Generation, Delivery and Applications

Provider: Ministerstvo školství, mládeže a tělovýchovy (MŠMT)
Principal recipient: Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences
Investigator:
From: 1. April 2014
To: 30. September 2016
Project number:

The objective of the project is research of coherent mid-infrared radiation sources based on difference frequency generation in nonlinear crystals KTP and KTA, delivery of this radiation a exploitation for laser spectroscopy of gases. We will improve thedesign of high power tunable fiber lasers that will serve as the sources of the fundamental frequencies. The technology of periodic poling of the crystals will be redesigned to enhance the conversion efficiency from near- to mid-infrared spectral range.Delivery of the mid-infrared radiation toward the interaction cell, collection of the transmitted radiation and its detection will be addressed. We will adapt the mid-infrared source for the use in a laser spectroscopy of gases. We will send our doctoral students to short-term scientific missions at selected laboratories abroad and to summer schools organized in the frame of the COST Action MP1204.
