The subject of the proposed project is the theoretical and experimental study of modulational instability in passive and active optical fibers, particularly in a fiber ring resonator. The aim is the development of the modulational instability fiber ringlaser model and its experimental verification and the development of a stable two-frequency laser and its exploitation as a source of a beat signal for the generation of a continuous train of pulses with a repetition rate of 80-120 GHz through the mechanism of induced modulational instability in an optical fiber.
