All the integrated optics joint projects of the ICT Prague, FEE CTU and IREE supported by the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic) are expiring in 1995. In the course of work on the projects, technology has been developed for fabrication of planar and channel waveguides in dielectrical and silicon substrates, and, standard measurement procedures have been established. Intention of the present proposal is to continue the joint research by focusing on fabrication of annealed proton exchange waveguides fromnon-cancerogenous non-aromatic proton sources, fabrication of ion-exchanged waveguides in glass substrates by multi-step electrical-field-assisted procedures and to probe possibilities of this method for laser active ions diffusion into dielectr ic to achieve amplification effect. The aim is also to develop technology for fabrication of channel and rib waveguides on silicon substrates using oxide-nitrate layers (formed by PECVD method) and polymer layers.
