Adhesion plays a key role in biological processes associated with normal hemostasis and also with pathological development of trombotic vascular acclusion. Biomedical science faces a problem of a body biological response to m an-made materials and devices, as they are recognized as foreign and initiate serious adverse reactions. Blood compatibilityis in the main a surface phenomenon. The project is aimed at better understanding of the events occurring at the solid- blood interface with the goal to design truly biocompatible materials by coating the existing artificial medical materials with assemblies of proteins and heparin molecules of various arrangement, composion and architecture. According to the site of biomedical application properties of the surface in contact with blood are reguired. The work will be directed toward inert coatings, anticoagulant active coatings for temporary contact with blood, and caotings presumably favourable for the neointima formation. The preparation of protein and
