Dynamical development of integrated optics and optoelectronics for a very large variety of applications gave rise to a worldwide trend to search for suitable new materiales and non-demanding technologies for fabrication of high quality planar and channelwaveguides. In the presented project the proposers intend to link to their research into waveguides technology and utilize their cognition, that it is in principle possible to fabricate the optical waveguides based on carbon – carbon nitride layers, whicproperties as e.g. coMinisterstvo průmyslu a obchodusition, structural arrangement, density and refractive indices can be controlled by the fabrication processes. Such layers will be suitable for futher treatment using various low- or moderate-temperature diffusion procedures, whicare expected to change not only their physical parameters but also their optical properties. The resulting waveguides may be suitable as passive and/or active optical structures. The significance of the proposed project lies in investigation of new,
