Hana Vaisocherová, Ph.D. received the prestigious L’Oréal scholarship

Hana Vaisocherová, Ph.D., a researcher at the Optical Sensors Department, was awarded one of three prestigious L'Oréal Scholarships for Women in Science for 2011 for her project "Trap Shuts in a Few Minutes".

Hana Vaisocherová Ph.D. from the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the CAS, v. v. i. as the third of the awarded scientists received a scholarship for the project, which aims to develop an optical sensor based on plasma resonance enabling early and rapid detection of hazardous substances in food. She says of the scientific work, “A key point of this competition project is to develop a method of anchoring receptors to the surface of biochips that would significantly increase the sensitivity and accuracy of detecting harmful substances.”

The awards were presented to the winners at a gala evening at Strahov Monastery on 19 May 2011.
