Michal Kamrádek won the Otto Wichterle Prize
Michal Kamrádek from the Fiber Lasers and Nonlinear Optics research team was ranked among twenty-four outstanding young scientific talents and won the Otto Wichterle Prize, a prestigious award from the Czech Academy of Sciences.

From April 24th to 27th, the SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics 2023 Symposium took place at Prague. Scientists from our Institute chaired a total of 4 conferences, and we also organized a specialized workshop on optical fibers, including a lab tour.

A meeting of the International Advisory Board, whose members are internationally recognized foreign scientists, took place at our Kobylisy workplace on April 21st.
Ruby laser at the former Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (1963)
Sixty years ago, the first lasers in Czechoslovakia were lit up, and the first university course in laser physics was launched. Let us recall at least a part of the history of Czechoslovak lasers through the memories of Jan Blabla and Viktor Trkal, who assembled the first laser amplifier already in the autumn of 1962.
