The research team Fiber Lasers and Nonlinear Optics at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences invites applications for a research fellow (research scientist) position in the field of fiber lasers. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with independent working habits and good communication skills. Excellent command of both written and spoken English is required in order to communicate with members of the research team, present results at international conferences and publish them in scientific journals.
Responsibilities and tasks:
The selected candidate will carry out research into specialty optical fibers and their applications in fiber laser devices. Specifically, the candidate will be expected to perform:
- Fiber laser research, for 2 micrometer spectral range in particular
- Characterisation of specialty optical fibers, in particular fibers doped with rare-earth-ions
- Leading students and research projects
Requirements:
- D. degree in physical engineering, mathematical physics, electrical or software engineering, optics, or similar,
- strong publication record in the field of photonics, lasers in particular
- solid background in fiber optics, optical waveguides, lasers and photonics,
- strong experience in fiber laser research

Náplň práce:
Výzkum vláknových laserů, jejich měření a interpretace dat, zejména pro oblast v okolí 2 mikrometrů. Charakterizace optických vláken dopovaných prvky vzácných zemin, vývoj výkonových kontinuálních a pulzních thuliových a holmiových vláknových laserů. Vedení studentských prací a návrh vlastních výzkumných projektů. Prezentace výzkumných výsledků na konferencích a ve vědeckých časopisech.
Požadavky:
- Doktorské (PhD) vzdělání v oboru fyzikální elektronika, matematická fyzika, laserová fyzika, optika, softwarové inženýrství, či souvisejících oborech,
- Dobrá znalost vláknové a vlnovodné optiky, laserů, fotoniky
- Zkušenosti z výzkumu optických vláken a laserů
- Dobrá publikační aktivita
