The project started on 1 January 2024 and will run until 2028. On 18 January, we held a kick-off meeting with the project partners in the main building of the \u00daFE in Kobylisy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>LasApp project partners:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the CAS (main coordinator)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fzu.cz\/en\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute of Physics of the CAS<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hilase.cz\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HiLASE centre<\/a>\u00a0in Doln\u00ed B\u0159e\u017eany)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.natur.cuni.cz\/eng?set_language=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faculty of Science, Charles University<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biocev.eu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biocev centre<\/a>\u00a0in Vestec)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.isibrno.cz\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS in Brno<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tul.cz\/en\/home-page\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technical University of Liberec<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/cxi.tul.cz\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CXI centre<\/a>)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipp.cas.cz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute of Plasma Physics of the CAS<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.toptec.eu\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TOPTEC centre<\/a>\u00a0in Turnov)<\/li><\/ul><p>The LasApp project primarily develops existing state-of-the-art laser technologies, for which it is looking for completely new application directions with the potential for breakthrough solutions on an international scale. The project will result in excellent scientific outputs including outputs with application potential. The project will lead to the internationalisation of laser technology research, the development of excellent teams and international cooperation. It will be important to have a broad collaboration with other institutes in the Czech Republic by creating a distributed infrastructure covering and coordinating research and development activities in the field of cutting-edge laser technologies, both in the research of advanced laser radiation sources and their potential use for smart processing and refinement of materials for circular economy, space and biomedical applications. The effectiveness of\u00a0 infrastructure investments will thus build on previous programme periods. The project includes, among others,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ufe.cz\/en\/the-academy-of-sciences-as-the-cradle-of-czechoslovak-lasers\/\">the laboratories that made the first Czechoslovak lasers<\/a>\u00a0in 1962-1963 and are now among the leading labs in the field of laser technology in the Czech Republic and internationally. In \u00daFE we focus on research on special optical fibers for fiber lasers, namely new types of active fibers and hollow-core fibers for gas lasers and for high power radiation transmission; and the
