On 1 January 1955, the Institute of Theoretical Radio Engineering of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences was founded, later its name was changed to the Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics (\u00daRE) and in 2007 it was renamed to today&#8217;s Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the CAS (\u00daFE). The main mission of \u00daFE is research in the fields that are now in its name.<\/p><p>The events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the \u00daFE started on Tuesday 26 November with a social evening for external associates at Villa Lanna in Bubene\u010d, Prague. The programme was officially opened in the Apollon Hall by the\u00a0<strong>director Pavel Peterka<\/strong>\u00a0with the screening of a film about the first laser surgery of the retina, since which 60 years have passed this year. He also presented a special supplement of the magazine Vesm\u00edr No. 12\/2024 dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the \u00daFE.\u00a0<strong>Eva Za\u017e\u00edmalov\u00e1, President of the Czech Academy of Sciences<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ilona M\u00fcllerov\u00e1, Vice-President for the 1st Scientific Area of the Czech Academy of Sciences<\/strong>, addressed the guests. During the evening, the Chamber Orchestra of the Academy (KOA) performed. The programme of the evening concluded with an informal discussion in the historical building of Villa Lanna.<\/p><p>The special supplement of the journal Vesm\u00edr No. 12\/2024 dedicated to the
