The award is intended for top holders of scientific degrees (CSc., Dr., Ph.D., DrSc.) who are under 35 years of age in the calendar year of the nomination. The award for young scientists bears the name of Prof. Otto Wichterle in memory of the outstanding Czech chemist of world renown, who became president of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences after November 1989. &#8220;It is not only an award, but also motivation for further scientific work.
