The Bioelectrodynamics team publicly unveiled its new Biophotoniq initiative at the Quantum Biology Forum 2026<\/strong><\/a> international conference, held on April 13\u201314, 2026, in Silver Spring, Maryland, in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.<\/p>

Biophotoniq is developing along two interconnected lines. The first focuses on building an international community, sharing knowledge, and connecting scientists, partners, and the public around research into the intrinsic bioluminescence of organisms\u2014so-called biophotons. The second branch is focused on developing proprietary measurement technology and a data infrastructure with the aim of laying the groundwork for a future spin-off. In this context, a prototype for detecting the bioluminescence of the human hand was also presented during the conference.<\/p>

The initiative also features an AI persona named Ela Sv\u011btl\u00e1, who serves as a guide to the topic of biophotons. She helps raise awareness of the research, provides updates on the project\u2019s progress, and fosters community engagement through online platforms (website<\/a>, Bluesky<\/a>, Telegram bot<\/a>, Telegram community<\/a> and Telegram channel<\/a>).<\/p>

The team also achieved significant success at the conference itself, where it received two travel awards. The awards were presented to Kate\u0159ina \u010cervinkov\u00e1 for her paper \u201cBiochemiluminescence sensing of PEF-induced protein oxidation under pro- and antioxidants<\/em>\u201d and to Michaela Poplov\u00e1 for her paper \u201cBiological auto(chemi)luminescence imaging of oxidative processes in human skin<\/em>\u201d. These awards confirm the high scientific quality of the presented results and the growing importance of biochemiluminescence-based methods in the quantum biology community.<\/p>
