Join the\u00a0<strong>Optical Biosensors<\/strong>\u00a0research team (team leader\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ufe.cz\/en\/jiri-homola\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. Ji\u0159\u00ed Homola<\/a><\/strong>) and contribute to cutting-edge research in plasmonics and biosensing.<\/p><p><strong>Job description\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p>The selected candidate will carry out research into plasmonic (nano)structures and their applications in optical affinity biosensors for the detection of biomolecules related to biomedicine and the investigation of biomolecular interactions.<\/p><p>Specific tasks include:<\/p><ul><li><strong>theoretical analysis<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>design<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>plasmonic nanostructures<\/strong>;<\/li><li><strong>theoretical analysis<\/strong>\u00a0of the potential\u00a0<strong>performance<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>biosensors based on plasmonic nanostructures<\/strong>;<\/li><li><strong>analysis of theoretical and experimental data<\/strong>\u00a0concerning\u00a0<strong>optical and biosensing characteristics<\/strong>\u00a0of plasmonic nanostructures.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Requirements and essential skills<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Ph.D. degree in optics, optoelectronics, physics, electrical engineering, or similar;<\/li><li>strong publication record in the field of plasmonic or photonic nanostructures;<\/li><li>expertise and hands-on experience in theoretical analysis and design of optical (nano)structures including the use of advanced simulation tools (i.e., Ansys Lumerical FDTD, RCWA, BEM, COMSOL, CST Studio Suite);<\/li><li>ability to efficiently communicate with other team members and supervise students;<\/li><li>good command of written and spoken English;<\/li><li>knowledge of nanofabrication methods is of advantage;<\/li><li>knowledge of optical (bio)sensing principles is of advantage.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>We offer<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Participation in exciting multidisciplinary research projects with a high societal impact;<\/li><li>work in an international and inclusive research team and institution;<\/li><li>outstanding research infrastructure, including computational resources (incl. in-house-built and commercial simulation software packages), optical labs, cleanroom facilities (incl. electron-beam lithography system, and a 2-photon-polymerization 3D printer) and support from professional lab technicians;<\/li><li>full-time employment with five weeks of vacation and other benefits.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Terms of employment<\/strong><\/p><p>The initial period of employment is one year (with the possibility of an extension).
