Project LasApp: meeting of solving teams at ÚFE

A meeting of LasApp project participants was held at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague-Kobylisy. The main topics were the progress of the project to date, an overview of activities in the research work packages VZ1–VZ4, and the status of monitoring indicators, including the Data Management Plan and related project and financial management.

On Thursday, February 5, 2026, a meeting of LasApp project participants took place in the ÚFE hall in Prague-Kobylisy. The program was opened by Pavel Peterka, who presented the objectives of the meeting and summarized the current status of the project and the progress achieved.

This was followed by an overview of activities in the research work packages VZ1–VZ4, presented by Pavel Honzátko, Martin Smrž, Prof. Zdena Palková, and Jan Kaufman. This part provided a common framework for sharing information across research teams and for coordinating further steps in the project. During a longer break, there was also a poster presentation by junior researchers.

In the afternoon session, the discussion focused on key cross-cutting areas of the project, in particular monitoring indicators, the Data Management Plan, and related project and financial management. Pavel Peterka, Václav Svoboda, and Jan Aubrecht participated in this part.

The meeting concluded with an informal discussion and a tour of posters, which provided an opportunity for follow-up discussions between work teams, individual consultations, and excursions. The meeting helped to clarify common priorities and further strengthen cooperation between the participating institutions and research teams.

LasApp: Breakthrough Laser Technologies for Smart Manufacturing, Space and Bio-Tech Applications

The project connects the excellent laser research centers of the Czech Academy of Sciences with other leading institutions. It focuses on state-of-the-art fiber and thin-disk lasers and their applications.

Six partners are collaborating on the project. The coordinator is the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the CAS, and the other project partners are the Institute of Physics of the CAS – Hilase Centre, the Faculty of Science of the Charles University – Biocev Centre, the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS, the Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation of the TUL, and the Institute of Plasma Physics of the CAS – TOPTEC Centre.

The project received financial support from the Jan Amos Komenský Operation Programme of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and is co-financed by EU funds.
