The visit took place in cooperation with the Head Office of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Czech Embassy in Brazil. The delegation consisted of representatives from the Brazilian organization Firjan and the Czech Academy of Sciences.
After the opening remarks, the guests were introduced to the research activities of two research teams – Fiber lasers and non-linear optics and Optical biosensors. The program included technical presentations as well as laboratory tours, during which the Brazilian partners had the opportunity to learn about the research focus of both teams, their technological equipment, and their research facilities.
From basic research to industrial applications
Firjan (Industry Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro) is an organization representing the industrial sector of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Through its network of SENAI technology and innovation institutes, it supports applied research, the development of new technologies, and their application in industrial practice. It is interested in collaborating with Czech research institutions, particularly in the fields of photonics, plasma, sensor technologies, and advanced materials. Its representatives visited a total of three research institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences: the Institute of Thermomechanics, the Institute of Plasma Physics, and the Institute of Photonics and Electronics.
The visit to the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences provided an opportunity to establish professional contacts and explore specific ways to link the results of Czech research with the needs of Brazilian industry.
