This year, the Czech Academy of Sciences once again emphasized that cutting-edge research relies not only on scientists, but also on the high-quality infrastructure provided by administrative, technical, and other professional and support staff. Letters of Appreciation from the CAS, which recognize exceptional contributions in the areas of administrative, technical, and organizational support for science, were ceremonially presented on April 27, 2026, at the Academy of Sciences building on Národní Street in Prague.
Among the honorees was Blanka Čemusová, who has long contributed to the smooth operation of the Laboratory of the National Time and Frequency Standard. Her work exemplifies that cutting-edge research relies not only on the scientists themselves but also on high-quality support infrastructure, without which it would not be possible.
The awards ceremony took place on April 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Hall 206 of the historic building of the Czech Academy of Sciences on Národní Street in Prague. The program followed a clear sequence: the host introduced each laureate with a brief profile, after which the recipients were invited to accept a Letter of Appreciation from the President of the Academy of Sciences, Radomír Pánek. The ceremony also included a group photo with the leadership of the Czech Academy of Sciences and a subsequent gathering of all laureates for an informal reception.
The Award of the Letter of Appreciation from the CAS serves to remind the general public of an important fact: modern science is a team effort. In addition to researchers, experts in administration, technical support, and project organization also contribute to its success. Their professionalism and dedication allow scientists to focus on the research itself and push the boundaries of knowledge.
The Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the CAS congratulates Blanka Čemusová on this well-deserved award and thanks her for her many years of contribution.
