Markéta Bocková takes over as head of ÚFE on October 1

Markéta Bocková, Ph.D., becomes the new director of the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, effective October 1, 2026. She was officially appointed to the position on September 15 by Radomír Pánek, president of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

The ceremonial appointment took place at our institute, attended by members of the current leadership and heads of research teams. Also present was Ilona Müllerová, Vice Chair and member of the Presidium of the Academic Council of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

“My vision is for ÚFE to be an internationally respected research institution that enables excellent science, nurtures talented researchers, and provides an inspiring and supportive working environment. I would like ÚFE to be a modern, open institution with a professional and friendly culture, strong national and international partnerships, and an integral part of the Czech Academy of Sciences,” says Markéta Bocková.

Markéta Bocková works at ÚFE in the Optical Biosensors research team, where she has long been engaged in research on plasmonic affinity biosensors and their use in the analysis of biomolecular interactions and the detection of chemical and biological substances, with an emphasis on their applications in medicine.
