Preparation of fiber lasers with a core from transparent ceramics and their use for laser surface modification of materials

We have elaborated a general method allowing to prepare nanocrystalline yttrium aluminium garnet with tailored structural properties. The optical fibers with transparent ceramic core were successfully prepared. We have demonstrated a general method allowing a laser processing of surfaces of electric steels. The elaborated method allowed tailoring the domain structure of the electric steels. The laser irradiation reduced the magnetic coercivity of the steels by 75%.
